Clitoral Hood Reduction

The enlargement of this clitoral tissue can disapprovingly take effect on the sexual experience of a woman with their sexual partner during their intercourse.

 What is Clitoral Hood Reduction?

The clitoral hood or also referred to as the prepuce is the tissue in the clitoris that environs and covers it. It is the most receptive and arousing erectile tissue in the female genital. This hood or tissue can be enlarged and expand, frequently in combination with an enlarged labia minora. Extra skin on the sides of the clitoral area can be a basis for the clitoris to come out uneven or engorged.  The enlargement of this clitoral tissue can disapprovingly take effect on the sexual experience of a woman with their sexual partner during their intercourse. As well, women with a puffed-up clitoral hood or tissue may also yearn for an enhanced cosmetic appearance which can be done with the surgical procedure known as Clitoral Hood Reduction.

This procedure should be performed precisely and as an outpatient. Usually this surgical process is also followed up and done with Labiaplasty. The clitoris and its adjoining nerves are not touched in this surgical procedure. It is simply the excess sideways tissue that is being sculpted away from the clitoral area. In case that the clitoral area has an unnecessary amount of tissue, then, labiaplasty is suggested to be performed for a more optimal result as it makes the size of the extra tissues larger and it will look like it is clustered up.

How is the procedure done?

This not-so-complicated surgical procedure is done using a local anaesthesia on an outpatient basis. Once the clitoral region is already numb, the excess tissues are surgically cut out to let the clitoris be more easily enthused. The ends are then cautiously sutured and the region will be cleaned and bandaged. Subsequent to the surgical procedure, the patient will then be observed. After a 30-minute observation and evaluation, the patient will now be allowed to leave the surgical clinic.
