In this process, the excess buccal fat will be removed to reduce the rounded appearance of cheeks.

 

During the process, buccal fat pad will be removed through an incision in the mouth, towards the back of the buccal cavity. These incisions create holes and pressure will be applied to the exterior part of the cheeks to push the buccal fat near to the mouth.

Risks of Undergoing Buccal Fat Extraction

Risk regarding this procedure is categorized into minor and serious. Minor complications include swelling and bruising depending on health and lifestyle. Discomfort and mild pain may also be experienced by the patient immediately after the treatment.

Serious risk includes loss of sensation around the cheeks and jaw line. Unfortunately, these cases are oftentimes, permanent or long lasting. Asymmetry may also appear and more complicated cosmetic procedures are needed to fix this problem.
