Muscle relaxing injections to smooth away the years
Expression lines can occur by strong muscle contractions of the face generally caused when we frown, smile and laugh.
These lines can be erased or dramatically reduced by muscle relaxing injections. This is a simple procedure that takes approximately 15–30 minutes to complete and cases minimal discomfort. No sedation or anaesthetic is required and you can return to usual activities immediately. Remember that you won’t see the effects immediately; it can take up to two weeks to see the maximum effect.
Another area which can be successfully treated with this treatment option is excessive sweating of the underarms, called "hyperhidrosis". The muscle relaxing agent is injected into key parts of the underarm to inhibit the release of the chemical in the body responsible for causing perspiration.
An important factor to remember when having any type of cosmetic injection is that results are not permanent. Each treatment is tailored to suit you as an individual. For some people, the result may only last a few weeks; however, for others it can last for months. Your nurse injector will discuss this with you in depth so that you know what to expect.
Dermal fillers for a younger face
Dermal fillers can be used to improve the contours of your face and fill out depressions caused by scars, injury or lines. This product is injected into key areas to help plump out these depressions. Another popular use for dermal fillers is lip augmentation or enhancement.
Dermal fillers can treat these facial lines and features:
- Glabellar lines: frown lines that run between the eyebrows
- Perioral lines: "smokers' lines" or vertical lines on the mouth
- Oral Commissures: marionette lines at the corner of the mouth
- Forehead lines: "worry lines" that run across the forehead
- Periorbital lines: "crows' feet" at the corner of the eyes
- Nasolabial furrows: deep smile lines that run from the side of your nose to the corners or your mouth
- Lip augmentation or enhancement
Dermal filling is a simple procedure that can be done in your lunch hour with little to no down time.
Though dermal filler treatments should be a relatively pain-free experience, we are able to provide anaesthetic creams that can be applied to the affected area, or a local anaesthetic can be used for more sensitive areas such as the lips.
At Medici Clinics, we use many different types of dermal fillers, although due to government regulations we are unable to name these products on our website. Our qualified nurse injectors will explain the different products to you when you book for your free consultation.
Cosmetic peels for a smoother complexion
Cosmetic peels are a chemical solution that can improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers.
Cosmetic peels are helpful for people with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acid (AHAs) are used for chemical peels. The precise formula used is adjusted to suit your particular needs.
Although a chemical peel may be performed in conjunction with a facelift, it is not a substitute for such surgery, nor will it prevent or slow the aging process.
Deciding if a chemical peel is right for you
Chemical peels are most commonly performed for cosmetic reasons to enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. They may also remove pre-cancerous skin growths, soften acne facial scars and even control acne.
AHA – a milder peel for brighter skin
Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who can’t spare the time to recover from a phenol or TCA peel.
AHA peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Various concentrations of AHA may be applied weekly or at longer intervals to obtain the best result. Your consultant will make recommendations during your consultation and as the treatment proceeds.
An alphahydroxy acid, such as glycolic acid, can also be mixed with a facial wash or cream in lesser concentrations as part of a daily skincare regimen to improve the skin’s texture. After your treatment, AHA peels may cause stinging, redness, irritation and crusting. However, as the skin adjusts to the treatment regimen, these problems will subside.
Laser resurfacing to smooth damaged skin
The effects of ageing, sun exposure, skin infections or lifestyle (such as stress, smoking or alcohol) may cause damage to your skin and can result in wrinkles, blotches or scarring.
The best way to achieve smoother and fresher skin is with laser resurfacing. Laser resurfacing can be likened to a cut and polish on a 10 year old car that has never been washed. If you are looking into this procedure, it is important to deal with an experienced and qualified professional in order for laser treatment to be safe and effective.
Although facial laser resurfacing does not fix all problems of the face, it can be complemented with a surgical facelift to tighten the skin and the laser completes your renewed look by polishing the overall texture of the . skin.
Another popular procedure done with laser is the removal of raised benign facial moles.
Here at Medici we have a patented method of bandaging that allows you to return to your normal duties well within two weeks. Instead of having raw exposed skin during your recovery, our surgeons apply a bandage to the treated area that is removed after one week.
As with all procedures laser surgery carries some risk of complications. You should discuss these with your surgeon or client advisor during your consultation.
